Fractured Pop-Up Collages
Cet atelier est inspiré par l'approche de Morgan Melenka, qui considère le collage comme un moyen de refléter le paysage visuel fracturé et discontinu de nos espaces construits contemporains. Il a pour visée de créer des collages sculpturaux en utilisant des images trouvées dans des magazines, autour de la narration de l'ornementation architecturale.
Les participants créeront leurs propres paysages architecturaux et seront amenés à fracturer leur collage en créant un pop-up s'inspirant des concepts d'espace visuel discontinu.
Cet atelier gratuit durera 2 heures avec une démonstration en début d'atelier.
Les matériaux sont disponibles selon le principe du premier arrivé, premier servi.
Il n'y a pas d'âge requis, mais les enfants doivent être accompagnés d'un adulte.
Morgan Melenka est une artiste en arts visuels basée à Calgary. Elle utilise des formes et des matériaux architecturaux pour interagir avec l'histoire et le lieu. Elle est titulaire d'une maîtrise en beaux-arts (MFA) de la NSCAD University (2019) et d'un baccalauréat en beaux-arts (BFA) de l'Université de l'Alberta (2014). Ses expositions en 2023 incluent A Provisional Vista à l’espace projet de l'Esker Foundation et l'exposition collective The Mall à la Mitchell Art Gallery de l'Université MacEwan. Son travail a également été récemment présenté dans Peripheral Review: Walking Through Nonsuch: A Conversation with Morgan Melenka par Nadia Kurd. Elle enseigne les arts visuels et travaille comme peintre décoratrice pour le cinéma et la télévision.
Emilie Kvist est une artiste interdisciplinaire passionnée par les médias imprimés, la sculpture et l'installation. Elle est titulaire d'un bac en histoire et d'un bac en arts visuels de l'université de la Fraser Valley, en Colombie-Britannique. Outre sa pratique de la gravure, Kvist a également travaillé ces dernières années dans le secteur de la culture, dans des postes liés à l'éducation, à la programmation, à la sensibilisation et à la conservation. Plus récemment, en 2022, elle s'est engagée auprès du public en dirigeant un projet d'installation communautaire appelé Into Nature, en tant qu'une des huit ambassadrices des Journées de la culture de la Colombie-Britanique.
Mediation Workshop
Fractured Pop-Up Collages

Inspired by Morgan Melenka’s approach to “collage as a means to reflect the fractured, discontinuous visual landscape of our contemporary built spaces” this workshop aims to create collaged pop-up sculptural cards/forms, using found images within magazines, surrounding the narrative of architectural ornamentation. Participants will be inspired to create their own take on fractured architectural landscapes and be called to fracture their collage through creating a pop-up- riffing concepts of discontinuous visual space.
This free workshop will run for 2 hours, with instruction/demo at the beginning of the workshop. Materials are on a first-come, first-served basis.
There is no age requirement, however, children must be accompanied by an adult.
Morgan Melenka is a visual artist based in Calgary. She uses architectural forms and materials to engage with history and place. She holds an MFA from NSCAD University (2019) and a BFA from University of Alberta (2014). Her 2023 shows include A provisional vista at the Esker Foundation’s Project Space and the group exhibition The Mall at the Mitchell Art Gallery at MacEwan University. Her work has also recently been featured in Peripheral Review: Walking Through Nonsuch: A Conversation with Morgan Melenka by Nadia Kurd. She teaches visual art and is a scenic painter for film and television.
Emilie Kvist is an interdisciplinary artist with a passion for print media, sculpture, and installation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a focus in history, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in visual arts from the University of the Fraser Valley, British Columbia. In addition to her printmaking practice, Kvist has also spent the last few years working in the culture sector though education, programming, outreach, and curatorially-based positions. More recently, in 2022, she engaged with the public by leading a community-based project installation called Into Nature as one of eight BC Culture Days Ambassadors for the province British Columbia.
